Kansha, translated from Japanese, means gratitude. These are Kanshacards because their minimal drawing style is inspired by the value of simplicity in Japanese culture, and sending a card is a great way to express gratitude.

KanshakKards are conceptualized and illustrated by Laura Jacobs Pavlick in Bantam, CT. Her affinity for Japanese simplicity comes from her decades-long practice and teaching of Aikido, a Japanese martial art. What began in 2021 as a hand-drawn Valentine's Day card for Laura's husband (flower and hat), immediately turned into a passion to create greeting cards in which the message is guided by a visual story that is open for interpretation. Even though these cards are hand illustrated on a tablet, Laura tries not to overly depend on the technology; they are intentionally left "imperfect" by not using the technology to overpower the hand-drawn quality.

Kansha, the stick-figure protagonist, represents how children express themselves in their first drawings. Kansha also remains expressionless, allowing the viewer to choose the sentiment and customize the message.

Custom cards are available upon request. Whether you are looking for thank you cards, holiday cards, special invitations or announcements, simply choose one of the designs and we will personalize your very own message. Email kanshakards@gmail.com for more information.
